Andy Sperber, CNWI
Andy first discovered K9 Nose Work in 2012 when he was looking for an activity his energetic 2-year-old Golden Retriever “Maho” could participate in. After the first 6-week class, he was immediately “hooked” and intrigued by the activity.
Using every opportunity to observe and learn how our friends communicate with us in everything they do has become a passion. Attending and instructing at multiple Nose Work Camps, Seminars, Webinars, and Workshops has exposed Andy to an even larger variety of training techniques and environmental situations to expand this knowledge.
His love for nose work has lead him on a wonderful journey! Andy & Maho achieved the titles of NW1, NW2, NW3, NW3 Elite, ELT1, ELT2, ELT3 and the coveted ELT-CH along with several Element Specialty titles. They were invited and competed with some of the top nose work teams in the country at the NACSW National Invitational competition in Loveland, CO in 2015 and in W. Springfield, MA in 2017. They competed in the first Summit League trial July 2018 and continued to play at the Summit level until Maho’s passing.
In 2023 Andy welcomed a new sniffing buddy named Reef. As they begin their nose work journey it is clear that Team Reef has a lot of fun sniffing ahead of them.
Andy likes to say that we never stop learning from the dogs.

Dara Sperber, CNWI
Dara has been a keen observer of K9 Nose Work since 2012 and was fascinated from the beginning watching Andy & Maho develop as a team. Coming from a scientific background the science of olfaction really piqued her interest. Not having a dog to work during those first few years she spent her time honing her skills of observation by volunteering at as many K9 Nose Work trials as possible and attending K9 Nose work Camps. She became an approved Score Room Lead at all levels as a way to participate in the sport of K9 Nose Work, sans dog.
December 26, 2015, Dara & Andy brought home “Kira”, who was to become Dara’s K9 Nose Work partner. Much fun is being had along the journey; the years of study & observation has led to numerous nose work accomplishments. Kira earned her NW1 title with a Pronounced overall, NW2, NW3, NW3 Elite, ELT-CH titles and all levels of Element Specialty titles. They are currently competing at the Summit level, earning SMT x 4 titles.
